Welcome to the Department of German (Modern Literature)

Welcome to the Modern Literature Section of the University of Freiburg's Department of German, one of Germany's top research institutions in this field. We generally teach and research German literature from the Early Modern period (1500s/1600s) to the present. Our department also has two other sections, German Linguistics and Medieval German Language and Literature.

We are currently rebuilding our pages to fit the university's new corporate design, and at this point most content is available in German only. We apologize for any inconvenience.
